2nd Chania Book Festival, 20-24/06/2023
The central theme of the 2nd Chania Book Festival is "Individual and collective identities: Self-determination in the modern world."
The various thematic axes will explore, among other topics, contemporary phenomena and demands related to gender identity, the 100 years since the Treaty of Lausanne, contemporary interpretations of the poetry of C.P. Cavafy on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of his birth and the 90th anniversary of his death, the role of Nikos Kazantzakis' work in shaping the Greek and Cretan identity abroad on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of his birth, and its current publishing relevance.
A total of over 50 Greek prose writers, poets, historians, academics, intellectuals, artists, publishers and translators are present at the great celebration of the book in Chania, among whom I have the honor to be myself, presenting my writing and research work , in the framework of the thematic axis: "The trauma of the exchange: 100 years since the Treaty of Lausanne", on Wednesday, June 21, 21:00-22:00, at the Sabbionara Gate, on the occasion of my book: "Memories of homelands. Aspects of identity among the Cretan Turks of Bodrum" (ed. Rhadamanthys).
